Anyone completed a Halifax mortgage application recently?

Our buyers have submitted a mortgage application with Halifax. This was done on Wednesday as far as I know.

Does anyone know how long it takes Halifax to instruct a valuation? As we've had no call from our agent yet. When we did our application with Coventry building society last week the valuation was instructed the day after!

We processed a Halifax mortgage application back in September; it did take a week or so for a call to be received by our agent to book in the survey, however once the survey took place we received the mortgage offer the next morning.

Thanks for that @PerpetuallyPessimitic sounds like they may do underwriting before survey then if you got your offer the next day.

I don't trust our buyers as they have taken forever to do this mortgage application as they went on holiday for 2 weeks just after we accepted their offer!

@alifelessordinary Well as much as i would like to believe all people in this process are honest; i know they aren't, we recently checked to see if our 2nd buyers could buy 1st buyers local searches abd found out they lied about when they received those. They actually received them after 3 weeks; however at 7 weeks they said they were delayed and could taje 8 to 10 weeks, so yea totally useless.

If no phone call is made to request mortgage valuation or survey by Wednesday i would phone them and get their agents to chase Halifax.

@alifelessordinary - how have you found Coventry BS so far? We sent our application in yesterday and the mortgage we've applied for (10 year fix) looks like a great deal. Sounds like your turnaround was really quick?

@sandybayley they have been good so far, it's our broker who has been rubbish!

Telling me application went in before Christmas and found out not submitted until 6th Jan! But Coventry instructed the valuation the day after and all can back ok, just waiting for my accountant to send them back accountants certificate and hopefully should have an offer.

Hopefully yours will be quick too!

Did it in October with a mortgage broker, had survey done within a week of application and offer a week after that.

We did a mortgage app with the Halifax, they took six days from application to do a survey. Then the offer came out next day. We did have a broker chasing them. Our solicitor said Halifax are known for being (relatively) speedy.

Thanks @thereinmadnesslies I'm getting the impression that they must underwrite first before instructing valuation. All lenders seem to do it differently it seems!

I've used santander and coventry and both seem to instruct valuation next day.

I'm just keeping everything crossed my buyers get an offer and I haven't been strung along. They are now saying they want to complete asap, but don't want to get my hopes up until they have that offer!
