NW London, Zone 2 - the grand garage debate

Hi - moved last year and starting to plan refurb of house. We currently have a large integrated single garage (plus sheds etc in garden) but no side/external access to back garden. DH wants to use the garage space for a den and keep a small storage area for bikes at the front of the property. I think there's value in having a garage you can park a car and store crap in in London - especially as so few houses in our area have integrated garages and want to keep it (though reduce the size abit as dont need all the extra storage space we have currently). Thoughts?

Depends - do you have a driveway? Space to park that's not on the road is very important in London, but garage space less so - it can be put to other uses.

I’d get rid of the shed(s) and replace with an insulated garden room type shed (with electricity etc) to use as a snug and then store everything in your garage. I think he’s right, people with nice cars or motorbikes in London would be very keen to have somewhere it can’t be stolen from! Unless you’re planning to stay forever, in which case do what you like!

Thanks HermioneWaslib - given the sheer stress involved in buying this place I am never moving again...

So you aren't planning on moving - do whatever you want that will suit your family and the house best.
