Got a very limited choice where I live. So is one better than the other?

I think they are probably much of a muchness. I have had two Magnet kitchens and no complaints. Try and get a fitter independently who can get trade prices as works out cheaper and its the same range I believe.

I think it all depends on which door you want. There’s such a huge difference in quality in ranges at both

We had a B&Q Cooke and Lewis kitchen fitted 5 years ago and wouldn't recommend. Would replace if I could afford it. Never had magnet so can't compare.

Magnet sell a lot of stuff to builders and fitters, who might get, say, a 60% discount, so they can make a handsome profit if they charge you list plus a fitting charge. But you need to find a good fitter by personal recommendation, and look at examples of work they have recently done in homes of other customers. Anonymous website reviews are not a good source.

Magnet also have slightly downrated ranges, for example they might look the same but been assembled on white carcases, perhaps a lower grade of accessories, and are sold as trade ranges at a lower price. Popular with housebuilders.

The list prices you see in the showrooms are for amusement only. Nobody pays list.

The B&Q items I've seen, on close examination, are not as good. For example Cooke and Lewis drawers and accessories are not as good as Blum. B&Q also sell downmarket self-assembly items that are not as good as the factory-built rigid kitchens. If skillfully installed by a diligent fitter they may be OK.

oh- am following your post OP. Was just about to come and ask about kitchens.

I was looking at Magnet - we have a showroom locally.

Have also heard good things about DIY kitchens?

Called into Magnet for a rough quote.

It was high. Way higher than I imagined. Shock

Currently checking out using diy kitchens with an independent kitchen fitter and builder.

We had a Magnet kitchen fitted years ago. I can't recommend them highly enough.

When we moved house viewers asked if the kitchen had just been replaced. They were surprised to learn that the kitchen was several years old.
