Hi I’m just after a bit of advice really!

We’re going in no rush to do the bathroom but we need to know a layout as we need to knock a window and door out and fit piping etc

Do you think this layout would be ok?

TIA

The unit in the right hand corner is housing the washing machine and tumble dryer which will be stacked on top of each other! Many people who I’ve told what our plans are think this is a strange thing to do! In my eyes it makes sense as we have so much more storage space in the kitchen!! Now we have ordered the kitchen, this is now our only option Smile

Where are towels going to hang?

Looks a good lay out, you might want to think about a slightly bigger radiator, 400 is quite small.
I design bathrooms for work and recently quite a few of my customers have put washing machines in the bathroom, I think it's a good idea. An Italian customer told me it's pretty common in Europe.

@RadioTimesKangaMummy I was going to put a towel rail above the radiator and then hooks on the door? We don’t have any space in our bathroom at the moment and we just place towels on our bedroom radiators.

@cc4490 I know I want to put a bigger one in but haven’t really got space for it, as I don’t want to have the sink so close to the bath. We were going to put in a double radiator with the highest btu rating and hope for the best! Maybe I could get away with a 500mm 🤔

I'd see if you could fit a 500 in, we've just got a heated towel rail in the bathroom and it doesn't really give enough heat - I wish we put under tile heat mats in.
Is your basin on a vanity unit? I recommend it for storage because I put a floating basin in my own bathroom and it looked great until we started using the bathroom and realised there's nowhere to put all the bits and bobs.

@cc4490 I’ve managed to find a smaller sink which means I could get a 600mm radiator in! Yes that’s a good idea! I’ll see if I can get one small enough! I was just going to put a shelf above the sink as we have a large ladder unit going in. Plus this isn’t the main bathroom but more storage is better than not enough.

I'd move the toilet roll holder away from the bath - put on other side of the loo. Also, check your toilet will fit under the window. We had to look for specific ones with lower cisterns.

tinofbeans · 02/01/2019 17:31

I would swap the sink and the toilet, so you can have a view while cleaning teeth

Soontobe60 · 02/01/2019 17:43

Why not have radiator on the wall above the end of the bath to store towels plus another next to the sink?

@SwedishEdith luckily we haven’t knocked the window out yet so we can make the window to suit the size of the toilet.

@tinofbeans that’s what I would of liked to do but unfortunately the toilet has to be on that side of the wall as it’s near the stench pipe outside.

@Soontobe60 that is an idea 🤔 xx

We have a towel radiator similar to this but not the same one.

Gives off loads of heat (we have to turn the valve down), get the measurements of your room and use an online calculator to calculate the btu you need and then find a radiator to suit. I'd also switch the sink and radiator so it is closer to the bath and you can easily reach towels.

Or if you leave sink where it is you can have a mirrored cabinet above it and see the view in the mirror 👍🏻 ask for one with a shaver socket inside for charging toothbrushes

Lubilu28 · 02/01/2019 18:50

@BrokenWing that’s such a good idea! It’s such a large btu! The reason I didn’t want to have one of those it because the one in our bathroom now is useless! But it was really cheap so probably doesn’t give of much heat lol

Deffo will swap them around makes sense!
