Changing ceramic tap washer

Tap is leaking and I need to change the washer but I can't get to it without some how removing the chrome 'collar' on the tap. Do I just need to prise it off, or am I missing something? At the moment all I can access is the the very top of the washer - see photos.

Ceramic taps don't have a washer, they have a cartridge. Probably that collar unscrews. A strap wrench would do it, or you could put elastoplast strapping on the chrome to protect it, and use pump pliers.

Support the body of the tap to prevent it moving and cracking the basin. Drape an old towel over the basin so it isn't cracked when you drop the spanner. You will need a spanner to remove the cartridge.

Thank you! Been trying it with an adjustable wrench, but the strap one looks perfect!
