Hi everyone, hoping for your insights as I'm inexperienced in this and don't know where to start.
The picture is my current downstairs. T = toilet and annoyingly M = manhole.
We're going to get the garage converted, but as the kitchen and breakfast room are relatively small, we were planning on making the garage the kitchen diner and then the breakfast room the utility. That leaves a bit of wasted space so we'd like to connect the 2 but the manhole is in the way.
Any thoughts / suggestions?

Move the manhole? How practical is that?

I've heard horror stories but guess I need to get in touch with water company. Does anyone have experience of this

I would do it differently.
I would make the breakfast area into the utility room. Then knock the existing kitchen and dining room into one big kitchen diner. Then I would convert the garage into another living room, accessed via a door off the hall at the bottom of the stairs.

That would solve the manhole problem wouldn't it @mrsmoastytoasty. Then we could still basically have the extra lounge type space
