Anyone seen or added a 3rd storey to a chalet style house?

Sounds weird I know but I think it could work.

Our house is fairly regular except for the fact the roof tiling goes all the way down to the top of the ground floor. So the first floor front and rear bedrooms are flat roof, dormer style. Side windows are normal as bricks go right up to the top on the sides (detached). We have a full sized loft.

I am starting to wonder if we could convert the loft to a bedroom and bathroom (& cupboard to store what remains of the loft contents!)
, so it would look like a dormer on top of a dormer. Or maybe a balcony on top of the rear dormer.

Has anyone seen anything like this done?

Thanks!
