Our current loft access ladder is broken we are planning a loft conversion so I don't want to spend loads on a permanent hatch access ladder but I do need a safe way to access the loft and clear all the junk out. I've seen some freestanding telescopic ladders online that you can use on a rubber mat. Are these safe enough for accessing a loft? Is the reason people normally used the fixed slide out ladders more about saving space and not wanting a bulky ladder stored outside the loft? Or are they for safety?
