Telescopic loft ladder

Our current loft access ladder is broken we are planning a loft conversion so I don't want to spend loads on a permanent hatch access ladder but I do need a safe way to access the loft and clear all the junk out. I've seen some freestanding telescopic ladders online that you can use on a rubber mat. Are these safe enough for accessing a loft? Is the reason people normally used the fixed slide out ladders more about saving space and not wanting a bulky ladder stored outside the loft? Or are they for safety?

Telescopic ladders are fine for accessing lofts. They’re very useful all around. ALDI and Lidl often have them on offer. You can’t go wrong for bang for buck.
