How much does it cost to remodel a Bathroom?

Michikomei · 09/12/2018 20:02

Hi everyone hope you are all well and very merry Christmas!

Just wanting some advice on getting a new bathroom installed from tiles to bath and shower and sink etc.
I don't want anything particularly fancy.

I've seen 0% interest options about but is that including the Labour or is that just for the bathroom suite?(I heard that some companies have their own trades men to install) and is waste disposal included?

Many Thanks! I don't have a partner to consult about this so any personal experiences and advise would be much appreciated:-)

If say 5-7k all in.

disneyprincess87 · 09/12/2018 21:53

I'm currently getting quotes to redone my small bathroom. Need a new suite, sink and toilet need moving around and require a bath instead of just a shower cubicle. B and q could do the supply for just over 1000,i didn't choose all of the cheapest options though and installation would be the same again. So this option would be 2000-2500. B and q offer a free design BTW.
However, a different company, I now realise it was a premium range, started from 9000!!!
It all depends on want you want and require. If you source the different labourers it will be cheaper, larger companies will charge more but its less hassle. Get as many quotes as you can.

We got a quote of £1400 in the South East, if we buy the units and keep them in the same location. This involves replumbing, half tiling ( around bath and above sink) keeping the wooden floor. The units would cost us around £1000 for reasonable quality. It’s a small 2,5x2 bathroom. If you decide to move the units around this involves a big increase as the wastepipe might have to be moved. Also tiling floor is an expense. We decided to do it ourselves except the replumbing.

BubblesBuddy · 10/12/2018 18:59

0% interest is on the loo, Bath, basin and possibly taps and waste. Labour will be at least double but it depends what you want and need. If you move plumbing, need extensive retailing and want a new floor, then it’s more. We spent around £20k on our en-suite as we needed all the above and to demolish a wall and move windows. Just replacing like for like is much cheaper!

BubblesBuddy · 10/12/2018 18:59

Retiling. Not retailing.

I am not too sure how to reply to all your comments individually but, first off thanks so much for all your replies to my questions! And hope you are all well Smile

Youbloodywhaat-this seems to be the figure I roughly had in mind.
Disneyprincess87- thanks so much for your detailed reply and merry Christmas!, £2000-£2500 is only for the bathroom suite? I’m going to most definitely check b&q and see what they say.
Mougly-£1,400 seems fairly reasonable Smile for installation. I’m sure to get New tiles on the walls would cost a separate amount.Good luck with the flooring I’m sure it will turn out successful Smile I wish I knew how to install tiles many thanks and merry Christmas!
Bubblesbuddy-ah so 0% interest is just on the products not for the labour and that would be a double expense on top. Haha I wish in school they would teach us how to install bathrooms and real life stuff then things I never needed now in my adult life Smile! Looks like I have to hold off the bathroom so expensive Sad

Check b and q, £1000 for their bathroom components ie suite, fixtures, tiles etc and then if have to get someone to install it all as they no longer do it. Happy hunting! All good problems 😊

ghostsandghoulies · 10/12/2018 22:31

B&q installation is extortionate. They tried to charge extra based on our postcode in the London suburbs. We bought the actual bath, tiles etc from b&q and they were good but we got an independent person to do the plumbing and tiling. If you go with b&q, do as much prep work as you can like removing tiles because you'll save lots.

itscalledwineflu · 10/12/2018 22:33

I'm got a quote for my bathroom for new year it's £3200 not including tiles and flooring . The bathroom suite isn't too expensive it's the labour that costs the most .

AllTheProsecco · 10/12/2018 22:44

We've just paid about £6k for a family bathroom, including plumbing, fitting and tiling. Some of the pipes had to be moved so it was a bit of an awkward job and it hasn't been painted yet, tiles only around bath and behind loo/sink.

We've also had to pay for a door to be moved as it was previously an en-suite, plastering and electrics. Couldn't tell you if this is in the £6k or not.

Our plumbers got us a good deal on the tiles though, 25% off if we bought with their trade discount rather than buying ourselves.

Michikomei · 10/12/2018 22:48

Disneyprincess87-Thankyou.😊
Ghostandghoulies- awesome username!👻, as for the labour I guess that’s where they ‘get you’ you see I’m very mistrusting of who I get to fit my bathroom because I had someone do my garden and my toilet and they ended up doing bodge jobs. I live in London also so B&Q for installation would probably charge me a lot also🤦🏻‍♀️😭
Itscalledwineflu- which company are you going with? That was including the suite and installation but no tiles?

Merry Christmas everyone!

Can’t comment on bathrooms but I think you’re one of the most polite posters I’ve ever seen! Merry Christmas to you too Grin

itscalledwineflu · 10/12/2018 23:01

It's a local company I went with (I live in the north west ) yes including everything but not tiles and flooring which I pick my own and they will install . I choose company because recommend. Definitely go with a recommendation if you can I know what you mean we also have had rubbish workman so don't necessarily go with cheapest.

Calvinsmam · 10/12/2018 23:04

We paid £3000 for ours fitted.

We got cladding not tiles though which at first I was really against, I thought it would look cheap and tacky and I would hate it but I love it.
It’s sooooooo easy to keep clean and actually looks great.

Calvinsmam · 10/12/2018 23:05

Oh I should say we got it done in the summer this year

dancingdirty · 10/12/2018 23:15

Calvinsmam do you have any pictures as I am considering cladding so would be fab to see it

leccybill · 10/12/2018 23:20

We had ours done this year. It was a separate loo and bathroom so we knocked through and plastered up the doorway. New floor, new ceiling with spotlights, suite, new shower cubicle, fully tiled - it cost £5k all in, from design to build to finish.

Calvinsmam · 10/12/2018 23:25

Can I pm them to you dancing?
I just think it might be pretty outing.

Honeyroar · 10/12/2018 23:25

Id love to see pictures of the cladding too.

This is a very well timed thread. My mum was just quoted £4K for a double shower, sink built onto a cupboard and toilet, fitted but not tiles and tiling. I was horrified, but perhaps it's not that bad?

Calvinsmam · 10/12/2018 23:29

I can’t work out how to attach photos to pms so I’ll just do it here and name change later on.

I can see why I paid £20k.

Calvinsmam · 10/12/2018 23:50

Well not everyone has 20K to spend on a bathroom Hmm

PickAChew · 10/12/2018 23:51

Rude, calvinsmum
