Is there a way to find out the asking price of a house after it has sold?

Hello!

I've seen a home in my area that I really like which has just come to market, but from the photos posted on Zoopla by the estate agent, it is very rundown and will require a significant amount of renovation to bring it into the 21st century. The asking price for this property, given the condition, appears to be really rather staggering. I've looked at other properties within a 1/4 mile radius which sold within the last 3 months and one which appears be similar in size (also unmodernised) sold for significantly less. So I am just wondering if there is a website which records asking prices versus sold prices?

Thank you

Only once the sale has completed, not when sale agreed. The ea might tell you if you ring up though.

Thanks @kenandbarbie, unfortunately I do no know which agent sold the place so that's not an option. Seems like a reasonable thing to want to know though: the For Sale advert on Zoopla or Rightmove would have shown the original asking price (which is what I am looking for). The Land Registry and Rightmove "Sold house prices' section shows the actual price paid for the property - sometimes this can differ wildly from the asking price and this is what I am trying to find out.

Try the website Mouseprice

Thank you @BrightonBB, unfortunately MousePrice doesn't appear to list the original asking price so doesn't provide the detail I'm after. Thank you though!

if you look on Zoopla here

www.zoopla.co.uk/house-prices/

you can find what a place sold for and often a link to the agent details from when it was last sold. They sometimes take a while to appear, so if the sale was very recent you might not be able to find it yet.

I look on Rightmove sold prices but it takes months for it to drip through, the sales need to complete.

Rightmove links the original listings most of the time

Do you know the address of the property - if you google it the original listing may come up. Then you can compare with sold price list on Right Move

Ours still comes up after 3 yrs!

On my phone, if I access Rightmove via the internet (i.e. not the app), look at sold prices, look at a property, bookmark it and then return later via the bookmark, it opens the original advert with the asking price instead. I discovered this by accident and have no idea why it happens but maybe worth a try!

There is a Google Chrome add-on app called "Rightmove Asking Price Revealer".

You can install it on your Chrome. Once it is installed, when you look at the sold price of a property, as you normal do, you will notice there is additional information under the sold price, which shows you the asking price and a link to the previous right move listing.

Not sure if it works on mobile phone.

You can search on the Land Registry for sold prices
www.gov.uk/search-house-prices

Nethouseprices.com allows you to advance search for houses that have been reduced in price.

WhichMattress · 08/12/2018 17:46

Thank you @tenapenny2018, that's exactly what I was looking for. Seems that the "For Sale" price isn't always available though sadly, but still useful as it was visible in about 50% of the properties I searched. Cheers!

Or save the houses on Rightmove as favourites. You can see the sold price on rightmove and check the asking price from your favourites
