In Liverpool itself I would suggest anywhere South Liverpool, Allerton, Mossley Hill, Gateacre and Woolton. It depends on your commute and your budget. South Liverpool is expensive.

Come and live on the Wirral would be my advice!! Grin

Yes, south Liverpool.
Childwall, Mossley Hill, Woolton, Aigburth etc are all nice with good schools.

NoPhelange · 05/12/2018 17:02

Would second Woolton, Gateacre, Crosby and Waterloo also nice. Drove through Woolton today actually and near crashed looking at some of the houses 🤣 knowing your budget would help, there is a huge difference in what £200k could get you in North and South Liverpool. Where will you be working? Kids?

Not enough info to provide an answer imo.

DOI - grew up on the wirral, studied and worked in liverpool, now live in yorkshire, but lived in sefton park last year whilst on a Fellowship.

Your preferences - modern city penthouse, victorian grandeur or georgian??? commute, work from home, etc etc.

The advice above is good, the Wirral is an oft-overlooked genuine alternative.

Thanks everyone for the advice so far! Will be working in the city centre and rental budget of around 800-900pcm.

I love the area around Lark Lane and my daughter lives in the Georgian Quarter whiz is fab. Liverpool is much more fun than living on the Wirral (I’ve done both)

Mrskeats · 05/12/2018 17:43

*whiz? Which sorry

Jfuggle · 05/12/2018 17:46

My partner is becoming a mature student and we are looking at either car or public transport to get around!

I’d go with the Wirral too. Rail links are good and you’d be in the city centre in no time.

HollowTalk · 05/12/2018 17:49

I favour the Wirral but if your partner's going to be a student, I would definitely go to live in the Lark Lane area. It's full of students and you can walk to the university.

emsyj37 · 05/12/2018 17:52

Is it just the two of you? If so flat in the city centre. If you have kids then I would personally choose the Wirral.

HollowTalk · 05/12/2018 17:52

You could get a flat off Bold Street and be in the middle of everything, for that money.

Arnoldthecat · 05/12/2018 18:13

I often go working in the Liverpool area. I know its not the same as living there and im under no illusions but the city has a nice feel to it.

We lived in south Liverpool for 5 years, we loved Mossley Hill and Allerton but they can be quite expensive, we lived in Garston the last 2 years and as long as your in the right bit it's lovely, parks, a gym and swimming pool, cinema, shops and cafes, all the benefits of being close to Mossley hill/Allerton but without the hefty price tag. Liverpool has great public transport, Garston has a train station and bus station and is close to the airport.
