Chasing plumber for a quote

mrss2018 · 03/12/2018 22:55

Plumber came last Monday to quote a job- fairly small I want my kitchen sink and tap replaced.
He hasn't been in contact since- I sent him a text this afternoon...no reply.
Is this usual?? He said he could do the job before Xmas and gave us a date but hasn't been in contact with the quote!!

I have started looking for other plumbers to quote the job but I like the first guy I trust he will do a good job and know he's really busy.....

How much can I chase without being annoying??

Thanks

Honestly? I wouldn't bother. Ime tradespeople who don't get back to you aren't interested in the job. For some reason they will come and have a look and say they'll send you a quote, but if there's no further commitment they've other things on they'll rather do.

He doesn't want the job, so leave it.

How annoying?! Why waste both of our time?!
Thanks for the reply's...fingers crossed someone can do the job before Christmas!!

Small jobs can be fiddly, time consuming and difficult to cost correctly. People don't want to pay a lot for them. A bigger, easier job they can charge more for is preferred. Try a handyman instead. But anyone any good is likely to be booked up for two to three months.

I've had this problem before. I tend to post these smaller jobs on local facebook pages or mybuilder.com and then the plumbers themselves can respond to it if it's something they want to do.

Thanks @OneShotFinch I posted on our village fb group and have been recommended a few...hopefully these will be more reliable!
