Getting it straight

I’ve spent ages banging in the spear thing to hold a rotary washing line. When I put in the folded washing line pole it’s very far from upright even though I used a set square.
How can I get it in the ground absolutely vertical?

The only way we could get one to stay straight was to set it in concrete in a bucket and dig a hole for the bucket!
