What are people's thoughts on having a rug on top of a carpet?

I find that when I'm looking at rugs online, they're more often than not displayed on wooden/tiles flooring. However, I think I prefer carpet, but want a nice bright rug also (in the living room).

Is that a daft look? I'm not sure if this is a ridiculous question or not!

Nothing daft about it IMHO.
But, it will drive you mad as it creeps along over the carpet pile so order some of the "sticky" underlay stuff for beneath the rug.

Okay, thank you! Lovely wooden flooring would be my preference, but not my bank managers!
