I'm new to the world of home improvement. We have a 3 bed thirties type house badly in need of refurbishment (last update was in the 90s) and with a third child growing fast (toddler, other two DCs are teens) we need more space. I have no idea where to start and I'm mostly concerned about the time it would take to do a kitchen extension with downstairs loo, a loft conversion (1 extra bed with ensuite) and full renovation of everything else (new family bath, 2 double beds and a box room).
First question, would loft and kitchen extension require planning permission? What's a realistic time frame for all the above? Rough budget?
DH both work full time so time really is an issue...
