Removing ceramic floor tiles

Has anyone hired one of those tile lifting machines? How easy are they to use (by me)?

I have got tiles in the kitchen (£££ from fired earth but I dislike them) and want to get them up and have either wood or LVT laid throughout downstairs.

I mentioned getting them up to a builder and he said it is a lot of work, clearly wasn't interested! And .... I want rid of them! They don't go behind the cupboards but it is a fairly big room I guess - 20ft x 15tft.

If it is too much for me what sort of person takes them up (would be having floor fitted by a firm but taking up is not their bag).
