Light fitting came off changing lightbulb

This house has so many problems I don't know if it's something I did but I was gentle and have changed 100s of lightbulbs so doubt it?!

I don't know why it just slipped off so easily. How do I get the fitting and lampshade etc back on? Should I ask the agency to do it?

Thanks!

it appears to be an ordinary pendant. I'll guess the person who fitted it forgot to use the cord restraints.

It doesn't appear to have an earth wire so you can't use a metal light fitting.

A pendant lampholder is quite easy to fit, but I gather it's a rented home so I suppose you ought to call the landlord.

I'd suggest that, after turning off the power at the consumer unit, you fold the flex upwards at about its midpoint and retain with a rubber band. This will hold the exposed cores away from any tall person's head. The ends must not touch each other, or anything else.
