Moving to a house with a prepayment meter

Hi,
As the title suggests the survey has come back today and said Gas and Electric are on prepayment meters. How do I go about installing new ones? Can I just inform my current supplier I’m moving house and ask them to do it? Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure but some companies charge to remove them. I'd suggest you first check with the suppliers that they're with to see if you can change payment plan without charge.

Like pp said, it's likely you'll be charged for it, but you just ring the provider of the new property and they'll arrange it.

Are they standard card prepayment meters or smart prepayment meters?

Standard card prepayment meter means you'll have to request they change them and not all providers charge for this.

If it's a smart prepayment meter then it just needs a signal sent to it from its current provider to turn it into a normal credit meter.
