Offer accepted - now what?!

Greatly appreciated all of the responses on my previous thread about looking at houses (I'm a FTB) - and fortunately we had an offer accepted!

I now am absolutely clueless. The seller is an older woman in her 80s, who wants to move into a retirement property. The house had been on the market for a while so she had stopped looking as whenever she found somewhere she liked, it would be gone by the time someone made an offer. This is fine, we live at home and have no urgent rush to be out.

I am more worried about what comes next? Our solicitor wants money up front for searches, I know we need to do a survey, but do we need something from her as well before we invest all this money?

Should we wait until we know she has found somewhere else? As if it gets too long we probably will have to pull out and i'd rather not lose so much if possible.

Feel free to tell me I am being totally wrong or unreasonable in any way!! Any help would be massively appreciated :)

Congratulations!

Until the owner of the property you wish to buy has found something they want to move to don't spend money on legal fees/searches/surveys/mortgage application. Essentially don't too anything until the chain is complete.

Mildura thank you! This is what my OH and I thought but we didn't know for certain. I had seen people complain that buyers weren't doing the survey quick enough so I was worried we were being inconsiderate.
