My partner and I currently live in Falkirk, Scotland and will be looking at moving to the Doncaster area next summer. We get married next April and will be looking to start a family.
I am originally from Grimsby and have a great job opportunity there but I don't want to live back in Grimsby and neither does my partner. We would prefer to be more central within commutable distance of Grimsby with easy access to other cities (Sheffield, Leeds, York etc) and the Doncaster area seems to be an ideal fit for us.
We have done a lot of research in the last 6 months and even raked up some old mumsnet threads on the same topic but wanted to get people's opinions on the area at present. There seems to be a lot of regeneration and new build areas popping up.
We will be visiting the Doncaster area this weekend and our shortlist of places that fit our criteria (up to £210k, villagey feel, 3-4 bedrooms) are as follows:

Bawtry
Finningley
Auckley
Branton
Old Cantley
Cantley
Bessacarr
Lakeside
Barnby Dun
Hatfield
What are people's opinions of these areas? Are any of them terrible? Are there any other more obvious places that fit our criteria that we should consider?
We would be grateful for any help and guidance from anyone who is from the area.
