Is this tile the wrong size?

I had some work done recently by a property maintenance company, and some of it was poor quality. They've been a bit difficult about coming back, but they'll be coming later today and I want to make sure they fix all the snags in one go so we can draw a line under it.

In the meantime, I've been getting new work done by someone else who is generally much better. He took a picture of this newly fitted tile (first picture), and said that it shouldn't be sticking out over the drainpipe. I need to decide whether to add it to the snagging list. From the angle in that picture it does look too long, but from the front of the house (second picture) it looks ok, and symmetrical with the other side. Any opinions?

Looks wonky and therefore wrong to me, but I'm not a roofer.

Yes, maybe its the wonkiness rather than the size that's the problem. I may have misinterpreted. But I want to sound like I know what I'm talking about when the guy comes back, so any advice would be appreciated.

Definitely needs correcting, should be in line with adjacent tiles and angled slightly to send the rainwater inwards away from the roof edge, should also be fitted so it sits snugly underneath the double tile above it with no gaps filled with mortar. Look at the tile above it but one and that’s how it should look 🙈

Canyerjustfixthis · 12/11/2018 10:17

To add that the way it’s fitted now at that angle it looks like any rainwater travelling down that edge of the roof/tiles will be deflected away from the end of the gutter, have you noticed it running off when it’s been raining?

'Fit end roof tile of same size as existing correctly' - that's a total bodge and it looks as though there's a great blob of mortar in the guttering too.

The tile has been fitted incorrectly (#understatement). Ask the new tradesman how he will fit it correctly, might be there's another reason for the huge wodge of bodge above the new tile.

Thanks all. Needless to say, the dodgy maintenance guy is number 1 on Checkatrade for my area. Hmm I won't be using them (i.e. Checkatrade) again.

If he's on checkatrade, then make sure you leave a review. Be honest, but others need to know that just because a company are on checkatrade, doesn't guarantee good workmanship.
