I’ve read some older threads but looking for a updated view on Mitcham? Online it looks affordable and great but my last memory of it is from the 90s!!!! Looking to move back to UK from NZ. Also, do I have any hope in hell getting my kids into a good school through late application?

I think it depends which part. The Colliers Wood border area is fairly fine but I would avoid most of the centre and around Eastfields. Transport links are good and I go to Wimbledon or Tooting for shopping etc. Not sure about schools but I find the area very friendly in general and have enjoyed living here.
