Work on our basement conversion has just started by Builders GB. They've done a few around Wandsworth recently.
The guys have started digging under the front of our house and have boarded everything up pretty well, work is progressing fairly quickly as they've bought in a machine with a belt that's placing all the rubble into the skip out front.
They'll be working on our side return extension as well after they've supported the basement walls etc properly, we had our loft conversion built by the same company this summer too.

Are you living in when doing basement work?

No we're moving out as the side and rear walls of our house are to be removed in a few weeks as work will start on the side return extension as well, so it will be a complete building site when that phase starts.
I'm expecting near mid January so we thought it's best to stay away until it's all completed.
Would've stayed if we decided to delay the extension but it's probably better to get everything done at once as the builders will be much busier nearer spring time then we'd have to wait till end of summer 19 or later.
