How difficult is it to wallpaper a wall?

Never tried before. Can I do it on my own? (Obviously help would be ideal but I am going to be on my own). Can’t I do it in a few hours or will it take all day? Any tips please?
Thanks

It depends on what is on your walls now. Do you currently have wallpaper? If so, that will need to be removed. Then you'll need to see what state your walls are in, there might be holes, cracks, etc that need attention. You'll need space to lay out the paper to put the paste on. How big is the room you want to do? If you're wanting to do say an average sized front room, then you could probably do it in a weekend on your own. If you're doing an entire house or flat, I'd do one room at a time.

It is not difficult, but it can be fiddly. Have a look online for comprehensive instructions. Make sure you've got plenty of wallpaper, because you may waste quite a bit. Make sure the wall you are papering is smooth, clean and dry. Paint skirtings etc. (If you are doing them as well) before you paper. You will need a ladder as well. Just go for it! The more you do, the better you get. It always takes longer than you think though, so don't rush.

Thanks for the advice. It’s a small room and walls are just painted white so bit boring but a lovely smooth finish.

It's easy and fun. A small room should be do-able in a day. Have a look on youtube to get tips. Just take your time when cutting out, especially if you need to cut around something like a door, window, etc. Also make sure the first piece to go up is straight as all of the others will line up with that one.

And yes you can do it on your own.

As it happens i like to think im quite expert at wallpapering . Its perfectly possible to learn. Read as many guides as possible. Preparation and planning is the key. Make sure you pick a wallpaper that isnt difficult to match up for your first attempt. Make sure you mix that paste well and exactly as stated and make sure you apply it evenly and keep your soak times to spec..

I can do it, therefore it must be relatively simple! I find the paste the wall papers much easier, as the paper doesn’t get so heavy.
