Does this electrical quote sound reasonable?

£650 to:

  • repair or fix three outdoor PIR based lights in the garden
  • install 2 new PIR lights in the garden
  • fit 3 outdoor double sockets

All fittings and materials are included.

We're in Scotland

Its 2 days work and doesn't seem ridiculous (but my only benchmark is industrial work I organise at work!). I can't be faffed getting three quotes and this guy has done work for my mum in the past and can do the work in time for me to get Xmas lights outside (and stop tripping over when I go to the bins)

Any thoughts as to whether or not it is reasonable?

Sounds reasonable to me.

I think that sounds like a lot!! Although I am no expert, do you get a choice in the lights? They could cost £10 they could cost £100 each - I would be asking for a breakdown in costs - if it turns out he’s charging £300 a day labour then it’s a rip off!

Seems reasonable enough.

Is he qualified?

I don't know Scottish law, but in England the electrician would have to be a member of a self-certification scheme such as NICEIC

Seems legit. His jumper had a logo with the name of is business on it. This conferred a sense of professionalism to me. Sadly, this is true.

I'll check!
