I live alone but is it still a bad idea?

Yes, jeans and dark co,ours will rub off and discolour it whatever material it is.

Oh my goodness I was about to buy a very very pale sofa and hadn’t thought of the denim issue!!! Thanks for saving me a fortune and a lifetime of cleaning it!

Yes it is a bad idea IMO but I am boringly practical. I put comfort and convenience over looks.

A friend who has a white sofa won’t let anyone sit on it. Apparently anyone with jeans or certain dyed fabrics might leave marks on it etc. This is a leather sofa with fabric cushions. I could imagine the same might be with a fabric sofa.

I think what is the point of a sofa you are too scared for anyone to sit on? If you are an ultra clean person who wears white and have no friends who ever visit and don’t like snacking or drinking on your sofa by all means a white sofa might just work.

To go against the grain here - DO DO IT.

But, make sure you choose asoda with washable fabrics. You will need to wash at least every 6-8 weeks so cotton is best. You can extend that a little bit by using textiles like throws for every day use and being mindful of dye transfer etc.
