Anybody know about laying carpet?

I have a home office with 3 walls totally covered in Ikea Billy bookshelving (floor to ceiling) and I need to put new carpet down. How hard would it be to fit new carpet around the bottom edge of each shelving unit? Pic attached. The sides of each unit protrude, so the carpet would have to go in & out, in & out all the way along. I know the best solution would be to empty & remove the shelves & fit carpet to the square room, but this is floor-to-ceiling, along 3 walls, totallly laden. Also, if I remove the shelving I'll need to re-drill the over-balance protectors on the top of each. Taking the shelving out will be a major pita.

We have the same bookshelves covering a long wall with the carpet fitted around. It was done by the previous owner and as far as I can tell, the bookcases seem to be permanently fixed to the wall, so there would be no other option.
