Last minute removals?

Does anyone have any experience of getting a removal booked at the last minute? I have been in property chain hell for 14 months now and all of a sudden it is possible that we will exchange and then complete by the end of this week. I can’t book my removal company yet because we haven’t exchanged but am worried about finding someone so last minute. Am I mad to think this is possible?

I think the only way you will find the answer is to find local companies and give them a call

It's possible. One company who quoted for us said they like 2 weeks notice but they've done a.move with a days notice!

Yes, I agree, just can’t do that now but can ask on here! When I have spoken to them previously they have said they will not book before an exchange happens but I suppose they would be able to tell me if they are available. Will be tomorrow’s job.

We just had to call around. Smaller local firms couldn't do the move in one van but we got a slot with a larger regional firm with nice big vans for a reasonable price.

We did have to pay a non returnable deposit before exchange to secure the slot, mind. Not a chain but bloody awkward vendors, even though they weren't buying so should have been more flexible (in fact, the arsehole calling the shots had already moved out, but wanted to make life difficult for his ex) and we ended up exchanging on the Thursday and moving on the Monday.

We did it. We had 2 days notice, it was horrific. We had to book them before we exchanged in the end. But, we found someone. I think it's better to avoid Fridays, but to be honest, you don't get much choice in that situation!

No, literally will have no choice so will have to be what it will be! 😩 I am NEVER moving again if this ever finally happens
