How much to fit an extractor fan?

First time buyers and moved to a small terrace. Bathroom has no extractor fan at moment. We haven’t room for a tumble dryer so think we might do a lot of clothes drying in bathroom as it’s got a decent radiator. Walls are painted and I envisage it won’t be long before it starts peeling off and creating damp issues unless we have a fan in there. It’s got windows and an external wall obviously. How much do you reckon for installation and fan itself?

Also we may look into getting a Sheila maid/clothes pulley put on ceiling in upstairs stairwell as it’s more out of the way. I think we would need to get a dehumidifier if we do that. Are they all quite large and cumbersome and are they safe to leave plugged in while the house is empty? Also do they use up loads of electricity?

After living in rented for decades we are wanting to ensure we avoid damp issues as much as possible!

Might be better to invest in a tumble dryer instead ?

A bathroom needs an extractor.

If there is not already a duct through the wall or ceiling you have to allow for coring one out and it might take the best part of a day.

Do you have access to the loft above? If so, you can fit a ducted extractor which is quieter and much more powerful than a cheap wall fan.

Better modern fans have a ball-bearing motor which is durable and very quiet. The cost in electricity is trivial. Have it wired to the light switch as some people have an aversion to ventilation and refuse to turn fans on.

paid around 150 to have a 12 volt one fitted (included the fan)....tbh am disappointed with the impact. would have had a more powerful one but then it would have had to be further away from the shower for safety reasons.
