A slight name change for me, as I'm clearly not moving this year. Hmm Well, I am, but not into the house I'm buying.

Went to the development today, had a chat with the girls in the office & updated them. Hopefully we will be exchanging contracts next week should all go to plan. We found a nice house to rent, but its so bloody expensive I'm petrified! As long as we complete within our 6 month rental contract then all will be well, but if we don't then things will get ridiculously expensive! Confused

@sandybayley Thats a shame :( its really bad luck!

Well ive got my tree up; house is looking festive, but still show home ready for viewings.

Hopefully that couple will come back to us Monday.

sandybayley · 01/12/2018 17:52

@Ramsey1989 - thanks! As it turns out it was next door neighbours drain but if the viewers noticed that they won't have known that.

I'm delaying putting our tree up for a bit. Our sitting room isn't massive and I think it might not help! I'm going to get a big poinsettia and some holly and a wreath for the door to make it look festive though!

Ramsey1989 · 01/12/2018 18:36

@sandybayley Luckily our lounge has an alcove built for it. The wreath and poinsetta are a good idea :)

MovingNextYearHopefully · 02/12/2018 01:12

Sorry to hear that Sandy. So unlucky! Bloody sods law about the drains. Sods law here too. We complete on Thursday & move out on Monday but it seems the kitchen sink has an issue. No idea where the plunger is so going to have to buy some chemicals to sort it. Hmm

Glad you got your tree up Ramsey. It can be quite a selling point, a nicely decorated house at Christmas. We had the same issue as you Sandy, the house is so tiny we couldn't possibly show it to viewers with a tree, so we made do with a poinsettia in the fireplace. Christmas was cancelled basically. No way would I do that again.

Oh no @sandybayley What a pain. Hopefully the viewers have a poor sense of smell.

I hope the festive decor secures you a buyer @Ramsey1989 I want to put up lights today but we can’t do the tree till mid-Dec as dd likes it up after her birthday.

Tokyo and Winter I hope things are resolved for you both asap. You must both be tearing your hair out.

We had a viewing booked yesterday morning for the afternoon. I was talking to DH at the time about taking the house off the market! They seemed to like it but I’ve heard that enough times before not to get my hopes up.

MovingNextYearHopefully · 02/12/2018 16:05

Been a nightmare of a day. Woke up to discover the drain outside was completely clogged & water been going out into the garage through the front & also because of so much rain the roof at the back of the garage had been leaking too. Unfortunately we had loads of packed boxes in there which were now sopping wet, so DH did an emergency request on Facebook for more boxes so we could re pack. Thankfully British Gas homecare still valid until tomorrow so managed to get them out to sort the drain.

Bloody exhausted! Off to the pub later for dinner & a few well earned beers before going to see our new house inside for the first time & moving day tomorrow! Grin

@MovingNextYearHopefully you poor thing, that sounds awful. I'm glad you are treating yourselves to a pub dinner and lots of luck for tomorrow!

Ramsey1989 · 02/12/2018 16:58

@MovingNextYearHopefully Thats some really bad luck, good you were still covered through british gas though! Hope you enjoyed your pub lunch :)

I had pub lunch today with my mum, so a brief bit of time to forget about the crap buying/ selling. I am still sitring on the 'negative' side of thinking that couple will read the answers to their queries and will end up deciding not to offer - although even if they do it wont be for a while because they said 'we will read though this over the weekend, then either ask additional questions or come back for a second viewing with family'. So much waiting! I realiae i cant blame them but whenever i wanted a house i walked in and decided within the first 15 minutes! I didnt take two weeks about it xD

sandybayley · 02/12/2018 20:12

@Ramsey1989 - we had a pub lunch today as well and almost completely forgot about house moves. I'm sending positive vibes to you and hope tomorrow brings good news.

@MovingNextYearHopefully - it must be the weekend for drainage issues. You are so close now, keep that in mind.

I'm almost certain it will be a 'no' from the viewing yesterday and that's OK. DH and I have decided to have a DIY odd job day next weekend (assuming no viewings!) and psych ourselves up for a possible price drop in the New Year.

roserose1 · 02/12/2018 20:26

Anyone from SE London - Bromley area? Are you getting any viewings? Our 3bed house is on the market. Just had 2 viewings. Reduced twice.
No more viewings!!

TokyoSushi · 02/12/2018 20:26

Week 18 commences tomorrow, the leaseholders solicitor 'just' needs to sign a deed of variation to the lease to include the garage, I suspect this is not a quick job.

sandybayley · 02/12/2018 20:32

@roserose1 - we're SW London. Plenty of viewings but no offers!

sandybayley · 02/12/2018 20:33

@TokyoSushi - you must have the patience of a saint!

TokyoSushi · 02/12/2018 20:41

I am slowly losing my mind!!!!!!

tenapenny2018 · 02/12/2018 22:03

TokyoSushi Sorry to hear your problem. I am also buying a freehold house with leasehold garage (It seems quite common). I am going to ask my solicitor to triple check the leasehold is legit!

TokyoSushi · 02/12/2018 22:23

Definitely do @tenapenny2018 the sooner the better, don't end up at week 18 like me, it is the absolute opposite of fun!! Wink

WinterBerry7 · 03/12/2018 11:37

Have had the solicitor on the phone this morning asking for an update as they are eager to complete - I said so am I! So having to chase the broker yet again. Poor woman did get a bit of my frustration.

@Maybenexttime08 I'd go cheap. Not worth it in my opinion!

Fleabag123 · 03/12/2018 12:11

Ugh. My vendors are splitting and it turns out that Mr Vendor is being a * and dragging his feet. He is now not happy with the price reduction we had agreed (in line with valuation) but is refusing to speak to the EA to say why he’s unhappy. They think he’s just frustrating the process and maybe doesn’t even want to sell? No one knows as we can’t seem to pin him down.
So I guess it’s back to looking ? Ugh. Not sure I can face it this year.
Hoping this week brings better news for others!

Iwanttoflyaway · 03/12/2018 12:22

What is going on everyone seems to be having a hard time at the moment. I hope it all changes soon for everyone.

So we were supposed to exchange Friday gone it didn't happen. The buyer solicitor works part time and didn't pass the work on to anyone else. We were supposed to exchange today to complete Friday but have just found the buyer hasn't even signed her contract and is supposedly dropping it off to the solicitor today !!!

I'm frustrated beyond words. The incompetence of everything. I'm not sure if I supposed to cancel my movers etc. Everything is booked for Friday Confused

3in4years · 03/12/2018 12:47

After reducing their offer on exchange day last week, we are now still waiting for our buyers to sort out their mortgage. Losing the will...

TokyoSushi · 03/12/2018 13:06

Bad times all round then hey? I think with Christmas looming it makes it even worse as 21st December looks to be the last possible moving date. We thought we'd be well in by now but it's just not happening.

Our solicitor is chasing up the leaseholders solicitor in 'a day or so' why can people just action things when they get them, why does it all have to take so long?! I hate week 18 😩

Fleabag123 · 03/12/2018 13:23

Group hugs all round ☹️ Sorry everyone seems to have had bad news today

sandybayley · 03/12/2018 13:30

Adding to the misery. It's a 'no' from our viewing on Saturday. Our EA insists on showing our house with other cheaper properties. Guess what? The viewers are going back for a second viewing on the smaller cheaper property.

They don't have children yet (newly weds) so don't realise the property they're looking at is in a school catchment black hole. EA didn't tell them that obviously and didn't share the fact ours is in catchment for two outstanding primaries. I will have words with the EA Manager....

TokyoSushi · 03/12/2018 13:31

What a crappy day!

TiddleTaddleTat · 03/12/2018 16:33

Sorry to hear about the crappy day some people have had. It's been dreary and rainy where we are but we've had some fairly good news. Set a date for exchange for the sale of the 12th Dec with target completion by the 21st Dec when solicitors offices will close.
On our purchase, we have been advised the house will soon go to best and final offers. As far as I can gather we are currently the highest and most proceedable offer and 2 of the other interested parties have said they are unwilling to go over the asking price (£230k). Not sure whether we should increase from our current position of £232k and if so by how much.
