Outbid by rich kid

Just a bid rant. Got outbid by some rich kid with parents buying.

Little prat basically emotionally blackmailed the parents until they caved in and upped offer on mine.

I have not taken a penny from my parents, since I turned 18.

Notmorewashing... If they have the money there is a good chance they have worked hard for it and paid tax on it already. They should be allowed to do what they want with their money, and if that's helping there kids out then good for them.

Pinkyyy · 04/11/2018 10:35

think there should be more tax for parental hand outs

Exactly the type of statement I hate. So if you're not struggling financially, you need to be taxed until you are?

Belindabauer · 04/11/2018 10:42

Galling as it is, this is life.
Life is not fair.
Parents help their dc out all the time.
Some people inherit vast amounts even though they are not close to the deceased, it's just how it is.

Coolaschmoola · 04/11/2018 10:52

How do you know that the parents didn't hate the house/thought it was too expensive and he was trying to persuade them that, to him, it was worth the money he was prepared to pay?

Just because he was persuading them it was worth the money doesn't automatically mean they were paying.

Whatever the situation it's between him and them.

PipGoesPop · 04/11/2018 10:57

Prat is such a horrible word.

tenapenny2018 · 04/11/2018 11:04

Well... what do you know...24 hours later, out of blue, just being offered a job relocation with a pay rise we cannot refuse...

Feeling rather philosophical. Indeed, such is life... moving on.

Oh well, now he is out of the way so you can find another house that you like.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/11/2018 11:07

Well strike me down with a feather, what super luck OP.

iMatter · 04/11/2018 11:11

Yes - what super luck and what a super change in fortune. And all on a Sunday morning.

NonaGrey · 04/11/2018 11:20

There you go tena it wasn’t for you.

Many congratulations and best wishes for the move. Flowers

tenapenny2018 · 04/11/2018 12:27

What the chance...The job thing actually was initially brought up a long time ago and we had not heard anything for nearly 2 years!! Which is one of the reason we decided to "settle down" more permanently. And then bang and got told "It's yours, if you can mobilise in 6 months."

beanaseireann · 04/11/2018 12:29

Delighted for you OP

JeanPagett · 04/11/2018 14:37

Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

Weedinosaurus · 04/11/2018 14:59

Heaven forbid you use your hard earned pay rise to buy anything nice for your kids (if you have them). Hope you’re suggesting to the government that they should take more of your earnings in tax. You wouldn’t want to become a rich prat, would you?

whatsthestory123 · 04/11/2018 16:43

oh that crap op

you wont get much sympathy on here as alot have had parental money for deposits and some plan to help their children onto the property ladder

thats one of the reasons prices have crept up over the years (yes im aware there are others)

hope you find something soon

Pinkyyy · 04/11/2018 16:46

What @Weedinosaurus said.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/11/2018 16:47

Well as it turns out, had the OP secured the house and outbid the rich kid (Confused), she’d be letting the vendors down tomorrow and be pulling out. No doubt without a second thought.

BoneyBackJefferson · 04/11/2018 17:39

whatsthestory123

thats one of the reasons prices have crept up over the years (yes im aware there are others)

It is a result of the prices creeping up not a cause of.

ApolloandDaphne · 04/11/2018 18:26

Someone else paid more for the house. End of story. It matters not a jot who they are or why they paid more. You need to move on and keep looking.

InfiniteVariety · 04/11/2018 18:58

All smiles now OP? Bitterness gone? Rick kid welcome to the house?
