Washing Machine Problems

My old washing machine did not work (was not draining) replaced it with a new machine but when the guys were testing it it also did not drain or spin? Any ideas what the problem could be? a coincidence? They took the new machine back citing faulty machine so I have to book a replacement but I don't know what I will do if another new machine does not work. Any thoughts?

When my washing machine wouldn't drain it was due to the drain hose being clogged up (the grey hose at the back of the machine) - I had been using liquid detergent which the plumber told me was the worst thing to use. He cleaned the hose out and it was as good as new. I now only use powder and have had no problems since. It could also be due to a kink in the drain hose. Hopefully, it is one of these as they are cheap fixes.

Does it have a rinse hold button? If so and it's depressed that stops it spinnning.

I had the misfortune of encountering this on my old washing machine
