Credit report and offer in principle

I asked my bank for an offer in principle recently, today I have a notification to say they have search my credit report.

I was under the impression they didn’t do this for offers in principle. Does anyone have any experience?

I was advised by nationwide that an offer principal did so only get it done when I find the house (still looking! And glad if the advice as it would have expired

It varies from provider to provider. They should tell you if a hard credit check will be carried out though.

I’m sure they told me they didn’t...

I’m making my actual application with them but via a broker so hopefully shouldn’t make a difference.
