Boring thread-tell me about your oven-what do you like/dislike?

After 10 years I think I can finally justify replacing my oven. It’s not been the best, it’s a Baumatic double oven. The main oven cooks really unevenly, I’m not convinced the thermostat has ever done more than have a rough guess at the temperature, the grill in the top oven trips the house electrics....are you getting the picture? I just don’t feel the love for it.

I have about £800 to spend, my only criteria is it HAS to be self cleaning! What kind do you have? What’s good/bad/ugly about it?

I have a Neff oven with the slide under door. Went from a double to a single oven and really really regret it!

Self cleaning is essential. Double is essential.

Mine has a bread proving setting which is ace, as is the Keep Warm setting.

There's a slow cooker option. Also can choose regular or Fan. Not used either of these much.

Not in the UK so telling you Kitchen Aid is great won't help Grin

I have a self-cleaning oven, it's the best. BUT it's a double oven, and only the big bit self cleans, not the smaller over at the bottom. That's very irritating, but I couldn't find any double oven where both bits self-cleaned when I was looking, and I wanted the double oven set up (not 2 separate).

That’s interesting about single oven regret because I had been wondering about that, because I have a singing and dancing microwave/combo dooda

I've got a neff compact pyrolytic oven/microwave and a full size neff pyrolytic oven below. I'm pleased with both of them. The only thing I'd do differently is get a warming drawer too.
I didn't bother with the hide and slide door I can't see the attraction!

I’ve got an AEG double oven - it has two fan ovens (rather than conventional + grill on the top oven). I love it!

SheSparkles · 31/10/2018 18:24

@mando12345 I’m with you about the door, but my kitchen’s fairly big so it’s not an issue for me
@dollyandteddy, I like the sound of that!

It’s fab - heats up to 300 degrees which is amazing for a crunchy sourdough.

carrie74 · 31/10/2018 19:29

Oh yes, one reason I got a double and not 2 individual was because I needed the space for the warming drawer. Which is fantastic - we use it pretty much every day as we all eat at different times in the week.

We have 3 Siemens single ovens. They have heat sensor prongs (for poking meat etc), steam and micro functions in addition to normal oven and grill functions (plus loads of functions ie dehydrate, proofing, plate warming, etc).

Honestly they’ve been great so far.

I’m still undecided but think I’ve got it down to between Bosch and Neff....

I have a very straightforward single oven, which I clean myself get a man in to clean m, but I love that I can programme it to come on/off at any time in the next 24 hrs.

Unacervezaporfavor · 10/11/2018 14:02

Shesparkles there’s not a lot in it (at similar prices they’re pretty much identical “under the hood”. Pick the one you prefer the look of and check if either brand has any offers - extended warranty, cashback etc 👍

Thank you Unacervezaporfavor, that’s just what I’m doing just now, ploughing my way through several sites!
