Help with packing up house

We're moving home on a month. We don't have LOADS of stuff but the idea of packing everything is still utterly daunting.

We have 2 small children and so logistically it's hard anyway, but any advice on how best to do it? Last time we moved it was just us and a couple of suitcases.

So where to get boxes, best boxes etc. Do we definitely need removal men? What to do with all the junk we'll have to chuck etc.

We moved a few years ago and granted it was from a flat to a house but it was a large flat so we still had a lot of stuff. I paid for the full packing service which was unbelievable. I couldn’t believe how cheap it was, we paid around £200 for it on top of the general loving cost. So worth the money.

We left our flat in the morning with a small bag like we were going away for the weekend. I did do a clearout if stuff like dried food cupboard and shampoo, cleaning products with a cm left etc. But just left everything else. I’m sure they are not remotely bothered about your underwear drawer!
We didn’t do the unpacking service but they had labelled every box so kitchen just went straight to kitchen etc and it was so amazingly packed that unpacking it was a breeze.
Probably the best £200 I’ve ever spent!!

@Ranger thanks I’ll check as I’m only taking a couple of pairs, but will have to find someone to do washing machine. Hopefully they will do everything else 😊

Popping on to congratulate you on starting such a useful thread. Have nothing to add but am bookmarking for when we move.

Going to reference a couple of old threads which may help you all, the 2nd one is particularly full of tips. In case anyone is wondering why I know where these are, I saved them as pdf when I did a search for moving tips for myself and will need them again roughly next April when I move to my forever home

Just don't be the person who resurrects zombie threads - that was your warning Wink
