Kitchen fitting. Jeezo, the DUST!

We are having a new kitchen fitted. I knew it would be disruptive. I knew it would mean washing dishes in the bath and microwave rice pouches.

But OMG the DUST and MESS. It's everywhere. And there's no point cleaning, because the fitter will be back tomorrow to make even more mess in the kitchen.

Thats nothing compared to building work lol! Dont bother cleaning properly until the end

Our kitchen is being fitted now and you’re right, it’s bad! We’ve had builders in our house ever since we moved in, but living with the dust isn’t getting any easier. I feel like our lovely new house is filthy. As soon as the big jobs are done, I’m hiring a cleaner to get the house whipped back into shape and dust-free.

Horrible isn't it.

I was watching The Real Housewives of something or other, they were having kitchen renovations, the builder had sealed off the area with plastic sheeting and a zip up door way. I think the builders should make more effort with this. I had my sofas covered in plastic sheeting but they still dumped stuff on top.

it will take weeks to clear. but be worth it in the end. i used throw away dusters to actually throw out the muck, not just move it. (back to more eco friendly washable ones now)

Careful that you don't kill off your vacuum using it on the building dust. You need a Henry, or something similar.

I found the same when I had a new bathroom fitted a couple of years back, went away for 5 days whilst it was being done, came home to a lovely new bathroom and 1/4 inch of dust over EVERY surface throughout the entire house.
