Best Boiler make/brand?

We've just replaced an aging hot water system with a new unvented cylinder and will soon have to replace the aging Potterton boiler too.

Could anyone recommend brands to look at for the boiler? Having had a nightmare with no heat or hot water multiple times now I only want to look at boilers witha reputation for reliability, mid and top ramge pricewise.

Does anyone have access to the recent Which report on Boilers?

yes, its top three are Vaillant, Viessmann and Worcester-Bosch.

The warranty is often longer if you have it fitted by one of their Approved Installers. If you look at the manufacturer's websites they should have a facility to search by your postcode for local firms.

I chose a Viessmann Vitodens 100 Compact, for its long warranty and simplicity. It is also small enough to fit in a kitchen wall cabinet.

would it be big enough for a 300l tank (2 showers, 4 bed, family if five)?

The biggest has a max output of 30kW, which is more than most houses need.

Your installer should calculate the heat demand of the CH and HW and tell you what power is needed. I won't be surprised if it is in the region of 15kW
