Survey due on Monday

Evening all!

We have the survey on our house on Monday and not sure what to expect. Any clues?

Google tells me to fix taps and tidy everything like it was a viewing. It also says not to be in and it could take 3-8hrs! Really?!

Every survey I’ve ever had has been about 45 mins

I’ve always been present for each one.

Gives you chance to answer any questions.

They’ll park up get out binoculars. Look at the chimney from afar and roof in general.

Lift a few drains covers to check they aren’t full of poo or showing signs of breaking down.

Once inside they’ll check all the taps, windows etc work. Jab your walls with a moisture meter which is only meant for wood and ask to look in the roof space.

Most surveyors won’t ask you to move anything as the majority of the survey is just visual.

Just make sure

  1. you’re in
  2. you have any certs or building regs signs offs to hand
  3. have the loft hatch key
  4. flush the toilets a few times so there aren’t turds in your manholes

Might tell DH to poo at work tomorrow then!

Thank you!
