Have fallen in love with a kitchen/ their showroom the guy who has been looking after us but then I keep seeng awful stories everywhere.

If it helps we are using our own joiner not wren fitters... please can anyone uplift me with some positive stories

SIL just had one fitted..she loves it, and no problems. Her friend did the same and has had loads of problems. It seems to be "luck of the draw".

Yeah that seems to be the problem too which wren you go to.
We are with the one in Leeds and so far so good also on other threads people say they have haggled but when we went for our appointment he says they knock all prices and discounts at the start so there will be no further deductions... did you haggle ?

The quality is fantastic, especially the top end ranges. The sales design team are great until they have your money. Then it can all go a bit squiffy. If you source a local kitchen fitter who is used to dealing with them like we did then it will be fine. Oh and don't have real oak worktops through them. They are double what you need to pay.

mrssunshinexxx · 25/10/2018 11:56

Intrigued why do you say that about the oak worktops as that is on our plans half oak and half quartz round the sink.
We hate the look of the laminate personally with all the stripey lines in it... or do you mean to source the oak elsewhere

We had a kitchen from them a few years ago. No problems with delivery, I remember a couple of frustrations during the planning stages but nothing major. Kitchen was great quality. We didn't use their fitters and nor did we get appliances from them.

Yes source elsewhere. Our kitchen fitter told us to cancel our oak kitchen tops and ordered us some through worktops express for half the price. Apparently they come from the same factory.

I’ve heard this too

We didn't use them although we did look and liked the kitchen and the design they came up with. Two things really put us off:

  1. Was that they were never straight with us about the price. It started as a definite figure with no change possible but then changed every time we went - to try to get us to sign. Ultimately, when our builder recommended Magnet and their quartz worktops came in £3000+ less than Wren's and were much nicer, Wren then offered to match that deal. We just felt they were not honest- they would have taken our £3000+ if we hadn't found Magnet.
  2. We have friends who had terrible customer service when things went wrong. They had to ring a national number rather than local, there appeared to be hardly any staff there, they had to photograpg items that arrived damaged, email the photographs, waited ages and no one got back to them, then go through it all again when Wren denied getting the photos and then were offered partial replacement - 50% off. It turned into a saga that went on for months. Wren put their staffing into sales and no customer support. They admitted this to us when we raised it as a possible concern.
We went with Magnet. The kitchen is lovely, it arrived efficiently, all there, all perfect apart from one handle. Our kitchen designer delivered a replacement herself the next day. They could not have been nicer and more helpful. Worktops are fabulous and the cutting and fitting was perfect. It's a great quality kitchen, was a good price and they were upfront about the price. They were also excellent with appliances and price-matched everything. I'd thoroughly recommend them. Our builder said the kitchen quality was much better than Wrens.

Unfortunately our kitchen now is magnet and the quality is crap and it's only 2 years old so that's not an option for us ! I think we will go to the Boxing Day same at Wren and hopefully put a deposit down and try and haggle them also! Thanks everyone
