Just spent £1500 Ona neff ceiling extractor, all fitted and looking lovely in new kitchen. BUT it is so noisy! When you switch it on it goes full power on level 1-3 with very little difference between the 3. Level1 should be about 44db but it is measuring 70! What has gone wrong??? Am so upset as it’s such a lot of money and we will never use it if it’s always going to be this noisy. :(

We have a much cheaper extractor which was noisy and inefficient. It turns out the fitter had not removed the charcoal filter which is designed only for use in recirculation mode. Ours extracts outside so that filter wasn’t necessary. Worth a check?

I would contact Neff - my ceiling one ( not neff) goes from a light hum (1) to a small jet engine (4) !!

Presumably if Level 1 should be 44dB but measuring 70 then it is faulty and you have some comeback against suppliers or Neff?

Neff called today and said increased dB is as a result of poor extraction. They will send out an engineer but if it’s a fitting fault the call out charge is £150!!!!
