A neighbour opposite us is building a 6ft fence around his house which is directly outside our front window. It will block our view and look quite unsightly.

Do we have any rights here - do they need planning permission and can we contest it?

There may be height limits for fences bordering a highway, to maintain sightlines. Check if it is allowed to be 2m or should be lower.

They can put up a 2m high fence without planning permission unless it's next to a road (then the limit is 1m) or unless there are particular restrictions on their property.
