Bathroom advice

We have just moved into our doer-upper.
The bathroom needs updating but it's lower on the priority list as first we are tackling the kitchen/living areas.

The tiles only come half way up the wall, so we can't pop a shower up at the mo, any advice on what we could put up to protect the walls, are we beat to just tile or is there another option?

We will be doing up the bathroom but not for about a year, so we need something that will last but isn't too pricey as funds are tight for this room as we're concentrating on other areas first.

Any help will be gratefully received!!

Laminate shower panels are cheaper than tiles. But (without knowing the layout) could you just put up some sort of rectangular shower rail and have it hanging over the walls?

We've just purchased these for our new shower room. No grout, easy to put up, hard-wearing, waterproof, etc. Lots of designs to choose from www.panelcompany.co.uk/large-brushed-red-silver-1-0m-x-2-4m-shower-panel.html

Thanks both, no option to have the shower sticking out from the wall, needs to be attached to the wall as it's coming off the taps and we're limited as to where we can put it.

With the panels, do you cut them to size? Are they easy to put on?

Yes, they are easy to cut to size and are tongue and groove, so easy to fit. They can be attached over existing tiles too, with suitable glue stuff.

Thanks Cutesy off to investigate tomorrow and then hopefully we will be able to have a shower!!
