Southwold, Suffolk

I have always wanted one here, we spend every summer here. On closer inspection it’s £65k for a 20 year lease and you have to move it for the winter.
It’s going to have to stay a pipe dream I think.

It would be waaaay cheaper to rent one for the summer?

NoSquirrels · 20/10/2018 08:42

That one's not your dream one, OP. Honestly - it's right opposite the steps, every single person will be spoiling your view by going up and down and peering inside.

Feel better now? Grin

SequinsOnEverything · 20/10/2018 09:16

I was going to say the same as squirrels, you don't want to be at the top of the steps.

ZenNudist · 20/10/2018 09:22

Its crazy how much they charge for these things. Are people morgaging them ? Presumably just buy outright.

Its a different world.

RangerLady · 20/10/2018 20:19

I love Southwold but the price of the beach huts does make me laugh!

wonderandwander · 20/10/2018 20:23

You have to move it for the winter?

ShalomJackie · 20/10/2018 20:23

I would rather have one at Wells-next-the-Sea!

LuluJakey1 · 20/10/2018 20:24

So it is about £65 a week every week for 20 years, plus a weekly rent plus you have to dismantle it and put it back together every year? How much is the weekly rent?

Is it worth it?

Shitlandpony · 20/10/2018 20:35

Sorry Blush I thought no one had replied, it is a bit of a boring post that I decided to post.
Yes you have to move it to a council car park in winter plus still pay rent.

OP posts:
Shitlandpony · 20/10/2018 20:36

I don’t think you have to dismantle it, not sure Confused

OP posts:
Shitlandpony · 20/10/2018 20:36

Yes a good point at top of steps.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 20/10/2018 20:38

You don’t want a hut that side of the pier, OP - it’s right near the loo block and where the exhaust-belching coaches park. You want one on East Cliff Wink

Yonijust · 20/10/2018 20:39

Noooo its the worst one. You could put a bucket in it & charge a pound a pee. You would make a fortune, 100s of people walking past, sitting on the step, staring at you,

Or you could turn it into a tourist information hut.

Bumpinthenight · 20/10/2018 20:40

There's no floorplan. You can't buy a property without seeing the layout...!

Shitlandpony · 20/10/2018 20:41

Tourist information hut 😂

OP posts:
TokyoSushi · 20/10/2018 20:44

£65K!!! But oh look at it 😍😍😍😍😍

So much better...

Needs renovations.

MrsPatmore · 20/10/2018 20:47

They're £80k+ further up the beach!

Shitlandpony · 20/10/2018 20:50

Just looked at financing, not mortgage suitable. They rarely come up for sale.

OP posts:
CutesyUserName · 20/10/2018 20:51

Blimey, for that money I'd buy a posh motorhome and holiday wherever I fancied.

HDready · 20/10/2018 21:00

Agree with previous posters - it’s the wrong side of the pier! Perhaps we could all club together for one further up the beach? Grin

Shitlandpony · 20/10/2018 21:03

We could have a vipers hut with snakes painted all over? Timeshare scheme

OP posts:
JammyTodger · 20/10/2018 21:05

That's next door but one to my friend's. She or her family (and me) use it all the time so it was well worth spending her inheritance on it.
They aren't dismantled over winter, they're just cleaned over the wall to the carpark behind.

JammyTodger · 20/10/2018 21:06

#craned, not cleaned
