Hazel Grove/Heald Green?

Does anyone have any insights into what it's like to live in either of these places? We would be moving from London and looking to buy a 3 bed with a budget of 350/375K.

In particular I'd love to hear about how much of a sense of community there is for those with school-aged children, what kinds of things there are to do at weekends etc. Thanks in advance!

Can I ask why you have narrowed your search down to these two areas and aren't looking at others which are potentially nicer nearby? What about commuting for work - where does anyone need to get to?

Good question! They were the areas that kept coming up on Rightmove when I searched for 350k houses (more of a doer upper/extension opportunity) and 375K houses (ready to move into). Would be commuting to Manchester.

Have a look at Poynton, Disley, Marple and New Mills too - all have train stations and are on bus routes. We live near New Mills and it's semi rural. I would go for Hazel Grove over Heald Green because of Heald Green's proximity to the airport and the aircraft noise.

Thanks Wow, will investigate further!

How old are your children?

Also Heaton Moor, Greenfield, Worsley all worth looking at.

I love Tintwhistle too but I think the nearest secondary’s would be In Stalybridge or dukinfield and I don’t know how good they are.

heald green is a nice area. Next door to Wythenshaw though, which some might consider quite 'rough'. Worth considering!
