Rimless toilets

Refurbing our small bathroom and have discovered the 'latest thing' (to me anyway) is rimless toilets - seems a great idea. Anyone got one, pros & cons?

What's a rimless toilet ?
I looked at the picture in the link but it looked like a normal toilet Smile

Look at the small pictures further down, here's a video.

Can’t see the point TBH

April2020mom · 15/10/2018 22:37

What is this?

Herewegoagain01 · 15/10/2018 22:42

We have just installed this one in our bathroom! Seems very good and easy to clean. As there is no rim, there is nowhere for grime etc to build up.

MargaretDribble · 15/10/2018 22:49

My friend has them and is delighted because there is no rim to get a build up of limescale.
She is positively evangelical about them!

Justmuddlingalong · 15/10/2018 22:52

We fitted a new bathroom about 4 years ago. The loo has a rim. Under the rim is still spotless. Save your money for something else. It's just another marketing ploy. Don't fall for it. 🚽

AdventuringThroughLife · 15/10/2018 22:56

I've never seen a loo with limescale/grime coming out the rim....

serbska · 15/10/2018 23:27

I also don’t get it. How is it better than a normal toilet?

I don’t have any issues with grime or limescale coming building up on the rim of my toilet.

sbplanet · 15/10/2018 23:29

Then Justmuddlingalong and Adventuringthroughlife neither of you live in a hard water area.

Big build up of limescale that is difficult to shift from our normal toilet bowl but particularly rims.

Thanks @MargaretDribble and @Herewegoagain01 - I'm interested to hear how they really work. Was worried they flushed oddly or splashed over the edges! :D

I live in a hard water area. We do not get limescale build up.

MollyHuaCha · 15/10/2018 23:37

I like it.

beanaseireann · 15/10/2018 23:52

Thanks OP

SpoonBlender · 16/10/2018 00:02

They're great. Don't pay over the odds for it, but they're much easier to clean.

AdventuringThroughLife · 16/10/2018 05:13

Yep. I live in extremely hard warer area. The bottom of the loo easily becomes stained if you dont clean it regularly, and round the edge of taps/shower. Just never seen a problem around the rim! Ever!

Havent been particularly looking but in never noticed it on all the times Ive used one. We obviously squirt around it when cleaning the loo and/or use a bloo in the loo but thats it!

CutesyUserName · 16/10/2018 07:29

If you decide on one and want to spend less, there are cheaper rimless options available on Amazon.

sbplanet · 16/10/2018 10:22

Thanks for everyone's comments, especially those of you who are rimless! :)

Perhaps it's down to how often I clean my loo or how old it is (14 years), but there's limescale and concretions and you can't clean easily under a toilet rim. I prefer not to squirt large quantities of noxious chemicals down the loo, nor is my water blue.

I think will buy from somewhere like a builders merchant or similar ilk nearby that is easily returnable.

I'm ready to go rimless! :D

Are you meant to look under the rim?

johnd2 · 16/10/2018 21:44

Ours is, but i wouldn't say it's that exciting! I will say the flush is very good though, although loud, and it is one of those water saving ones which is nice for a water meter, i think 2 litres for short and 4 for long, although you can hold it down for the full 6.

Ohyesiam · 16/10/2018 21:46

I’ve never been close enough to a toilet rim to look at it. Except for very pissed many years ago, and I wasn’t interested in limescale then.
MN always makes me feel so
inadequate.

Dickybow321 · 16/10/2018 23:10

Ohyesiam Grin

The thought of looking under the rim is really yuck and going to keep me up at night now
