Bathroom-freestanding or vanity

Hi,

What are people's thoughts of having either freestanding basin and toilet vs a vanity unit?

We're in the process of planning a new bathroom (complete renovation). We have a 1950s semi so don't think anything ultra modern will fit.

I'm not sure about all the vanity units and modular types that's are around. Will they date really quickly? I like the idea of extra storage.

What are people's thoughts?

We have recently replaced our freestanding basin and toilet for a wallmounted double sink with a big drawer under. (leaving the floor clear for the cat litter tray and food). And a back to wall toilet with an closed cistern.

It looks so clean and tidy. Nowhere for damp dust to collect and less enamel on show so generally looks so much cleaner.
There isn't as much storage as I expected as the pipes from the sink take up a lot of room under the sink, but it's great having a little bit of extra storage. Is the ease of cleaning that makes me happiest though!

Vanity for the storage every time.
