Just come into some money recently and I was thinking of getting on the ladder finally.

Glasgow seems to display strong growth and is going through somewhat of a renaissance.

I have 140,000 and I want to get; 1st safety, 2nd good location - either in a safe attractive part of the city (say west end, newton mearns, giffnock, garnethill pollokshaws or similar) or a pleasant safe town nearby (so not east kilbride, paisley, airdrie or cumbernauld) 3rd - fenced garden. Schools don't matter as my DS is 19 and I can care for him. If I can't afford a decent part of Glasgow I'd be happy to take properties with the same specifications near stirling, inverness or aberdeenshire. much appreciated

Is your information on areas from a while ago op?

I live in East Kilbride and my 3 bed terrace is worth about 130k, we've been here 12 years and no problems at all.
My husband's cousins are from Giffnock and Clarkston and have moved to EK and Newlands because those areas have really gone downhill in their opinion. It's not something I would have thought likely myself but they'd lived there all their lives and said they definitely wouldn't consider buying there any more.
I hope you find a suitable property, good luck!

Knightswood would tick your boxes, although for 140k it would probably need a bit of work done.

Hen shed in desirable areas, I reckon.
