Hi guys,

We got broken into at the weekend although door has been repaired it’s a old aluminium double glazed door. Really need to replace it. I’ve heard of rockdoor and solidor doors are meant to be decent. But has anyone got any suggestions on a composite front door.

I know we need to look for something which has the following standards for door PAS 24 and BS 3621 locks. But does anyone have any recommendations

We can’t afford a double door set up just yet but want a good quality door, the cheaper the better but could stretch to about £1000

Many thanks

what did they do to the old door to get in?

They jemmied it open with a screwdriver or similar. the bit where the lock goes into the frame (sorry don’t know the technical term) was bent out of shape

You can get a door for £1000 but £1200 would be better. I think a new door would put burglars off but make sure your windows are burglar proof too. We have used Solidor and they are good.

Try local fitters. We just looked on line and went to a showroom and talked through the options. You get a better idea of the quality by doing this. Check out the styles of doors online.

Solidor here too (composite). Thoroughly recommended. Feels really solid (pardon the pun!) and safe!

How’s open is the front door? I mean is there a lot of coverage for burglars?

It is worth having bushes etc chopped right back to make it that bit harder for burglars to hide.
