Does any one have a kitchen with only floor units no wall units...

Just as the title says I would really appreciate a picture if possibly currently planning ours but they will all be floor units no wall ones (long boring story but obviously down to the final look)
we would like 2 different unit colours but all the pics on Pinterest show floor units one colour then wall another if that makes sense and. I can't visualise that because it's not what we are after TIA!

A bit different, but we have no wall units in our kitchen and I hate it. We do have a pantry (thank goodness) but a lot of things end up living on the side and get greasy. Think carefully about where you will put things like cooking oil, herbs and spices, salt and pepper, ie things that you want to be able to reach for when cooking. (Our main problem is probably just not quite enough storage space, I admit!)

I've got a long run

How do you store glasses? Cups are a bit robust and take rattling i guess but glasses are so delicate. Even in dishwasher, rattling has ended up breaking so many. Or am I just too clumsy Blush

Waddsup12 · 28/09/2018 09:38

Nice pics. I'm thinking of no wall units as windows everywhere. Thanks, I'm happier it'll look ok now.

waltzingparrot · 28/09/2018 11:23

Ah, I have just one wall cupboard at the other end for glassware.

diy-kitchens.com has a section 'real customer kitchens'. Scroll past the videos and you can see hundreds of kitchen photos.

@waltzingparrot that is a beee-yooootiful kitchen!

scaryteacher · 28/09/2018 12:58

I have a run of floor units one side of the kitchen, and my fridge freezer and freestanding (tall, triple) pantry cupboard on the other at the kitchen end. The dining end has the table, and a freestanding Victorian quadruple school cupboard that is a floor unit, and takes my glassware and excess China. There is also above this an old fashioned pine plate rack that takes most of my china and, some of my mugs. The cupboards were bought second hand; the big one was made by an undertaker, but they fit the kitchen.

scaryteacher · 28/09/2018 12:58

Meant to say, as a vertically challenged person, wall cupboards involve climbing.

Baxdream · 28/09/2018 13:43

I have glasses in a cupboard and all my condiments/herbs etc are ina deep drawer. Drawers are absolutely amazing!
I have lots of cupboard space. I do have two tall units on the left but one is the fridge freezer and the other is the oven/microwave and two little cupboards

Baxdream · 28/09/2018 13:44

I have a utility which has wall cupboards

Sisgal · 28/09/2018 13:46

Baxdream your kitchen is grim. Sorry

TheHollowLeggedGoat · 28/09/2018 14:30

@sisgal - where are your manners?!
As the saying goes, "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". What does your mean-sprited comment add to this thread? Nothing at all!

I've recently moved house and now only have floor units and I hate it, nowhere near enough space despite only being for the two of us! I've had to get handy with storage solutions such as a rack for hanging pots and pans, tabletop spice rack etc. We have white units, white walls and a wooden worktop (also a nightmare).

Tika77 · 28/09/2018 15:16

My glasses are in a pan drawer until they can move into a dresser that needs painting. No wall units as I’m quite short, there’s a mantle and will be some open shelves. (Mostly to fill up the space.)

BackToTheFuschia7 · 28/09/2018 15:19

Afraid I agree with Sisgals sentiment, if not her delivery. These kitchens don’t look great, is there no way you can design some wall cabinets in OP?

BretonStripe · 28/09/2018 16:47

My friend had a new kitchen fitted with no wall units. Although it's obviously a lot lighter now, I think it looks odd. I'd hate not to have a few for condiments and glassware etc

MarmiteTermite · 28/09/2018 16:53

Here’s mine:

When we replaced our kitchen, I didn't want wall cupboards because I'm short! and also I was forgetting about food in the cupboards. We did end up with one which just has glasses in it. Fortunately we have a larder, so all food is stored in there. Only food out in the kitchen is the fruit bowl. I love my larder by the way!

GOODCAT · 28/09/2018 17:03

My mum's kitchen is a narrow galley kitchen with windows along it there are no wall units at all and I like it.

We do have a wall unit but just one and I would get rid of that if it were my choice alone as it would seem less cluttered.

BubblesBuddy · 28/09/2018 17:47

I actually prefer a whole bank of full height cabinets on one wall. If there are not taller cabinets, you have to bend down All The Time! It is truly tiresome. Open shelves get grubby. A mix of units is best unless you have very minimal culinary requirements.

waltzingparrot · 28/09/2018 18:03

I had a floor to ceiling cupboard built in as a larder. It's brilliant. Have a larder OP!

Baxdream · 28/09/2018 18:45

Wow there's some truly vile people here...

fruitpastille · 28/09/2018 18:55

@Baxdream, I rather like the minimalism of yours.

BackToTheFuschia7 · 28/09/2018 19:01

Bit over the top Bax

It’s an unusual choice, so won’t appeal to everyone. As long as you like it that’s all that matters. No need to call people ‘truly vile’ just because they don’t like your kitchen (can’t believe I’m typing that) Confused
