Swimming pool humming noise?

Hi all,
We are looking at a house that we might put an offer in on. Only snag is plans are in for a small indoor pool behind it (pool will be only 20m x 5m, local club, so not too many people using it, and restricted opening hours). Question is will there be an irritating hum from the pool plant room? The plant room would be c 20 metres away from the back fence.
I'm happy (ish) to deal with people coming and going (we are in a busy built up area anyway) but a hum might drive me slowly mad.
Anyone got any experience of pool filtration systems and venting to give a practical view please?
Thanks MN hive-mind Grin

I think you need to find out a number of things.
Is it above or under ground?
Will it face you or other side of building
Find out what pump they plan to use and contact the manufacturer to ask about noise levels. Find out how that affects you. Though when I'm swimming in UK I've never noticed a hum...

It's going to be a bit disruptive while its built I would think - lots of lorries taking spoil away.
It would not be the possible plant noise that would worry me, but the prospect of noisy pool parties and associated visitor parking (even though it is indoor, the construction around it could be substantial or just a polytunnel type thing).
How close to you would it be? They are large things and not the most attractive to look at.
What guarantee have you got that the hours of use will remain resticted?.
I used to live next to a private, albeit outdoor, pool. All you could hear on hot summer days was children squealing.
